Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that can help keep pores clear by removing excess oil and dead skin cells. This can make enlarged or visible pores look less noticeable and can also help with blackheads and oily skin.
How to use it:
- Start with a low-strength product, such as 0.5–2% salicylic acid.
- If you have sensitive skin, begin 2–3 times a week rather than using it every day.
- Apply it to clean, dry skin and follow with a lightweight, non- comedogenic moisturizer.
- Use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) during the daytime.
- Avoid using it on broken, irritated, or sunburned skin.
- Don't combine several strong exfoliating products at once, as this may cause dryness, redness, or irritation.
Salicylic acid does not permanently shrink pores, but regular and appropriate use can help reduce oil buildup and improve skin texture, making pores appear smaller and cleaner. If burning, severe redness, or peeling develops, stop using it and allow your skin to recover.
