Use Warm Compress

Using a warm compress may help if stomach pain is caused by mild cramps, muscle tightness, gas, or discomfort after eating. Gentle warmth can help relax muscles around the stomach area and may reduce the feeling of cramping or tension.

To use a warm compress, take a heating pad, hot water bag, or a clean cloth dipped in warm water. Make sure it is warm and comfortable, not very hot. Place it gently on the stomach area for about 10–15 minutes. You can repeat this a few times during the day if needed.

Avoid placing extremely hot objects directly on the skin because hot temperatures can cause burns or skin irritation. Wrapping the heating pad or hot water bag in a thin towel can help protect your skin.

While using a warm compress, try to sit or lie down in a comfortable position and relax your body. Some people also feel better by breathing slowly and avoiding sudden movements.

A warm compress may not help all types of stomach pain. If the pain is severe, gets worse, comes with fever, vomiting, blood in stool, a hard swollen stomach, or continues for a long time, seek medical care rather than relying only on home remedies.
