When you have a fever, your body may feel weak, tired, and achy. Back and neck pain can become worse if you lie in an uncomfortable position for a long time. Resting in a comfortable, well-supported position can help relax tense muscles and make you feel more comfortable.
Keep your neck supported: Use a soft or medium-height pillow that keeps your head and neck in a natural position. Avoid using a very high pillow, as it can increase neck strain.
Support your back: If you are lying on your back, placing a small pillow under your knees can reduce pressure on the lower back. If you prefer sleeping on your side, place a pillow between your knees to keep your spine more comfortable.
Avoid sleeping in awkward positions: Try not to sleep with your neck twisted or your body bent for long periods. Avoid lying face-down if it makes your neck uncomfortable.
Change position gently: Do not stay in one position for many hours. When you need to turn or get up, move slowly and carefully because fever can make you feel weak or dizzy.
Give your body enough rest: Sleep and rest are important while your body is fighting an infection. Keep your room comfortable, wear loose clothing, and avoid strenuous activities until you feel better.
If fever is accompanied by severe neck stiffness, a severe headache, confusion, repeated vomiting, rash, unusual sleepiness, or difficulty breathing, seek urgent medical care.
