Use Light Bedding

 

Using light bedding during hot summer nights is very important to stay cool, calm, and comfortable. Heavy mattresses, thick blankets, or synthetic bedsheets can trap heat and make your body feel sweaty and restless, which disturbs your sleep.

Always choose cotton bedsheets and pillow covers. Cotton is a breathable fabric that allows air to pass through easily and absorbs sweat, keeping your body cool and dry. Light-colored bedsheets are even better because they reflect heat instead of absorbing it.

Avoid using heavy blankets or quilts in summer. If needed, use a very thin cotton sheet just for comfort. The goal is to keep your body covered lightly without trapping heat.

If possible, sleep on a thinner mattress or mat (chatai) instead of a thick foam mattress. Thick mattresses store heat for a long time, while thinner bedding stays cooler and more comfortable.

Before sleeping, you can spread your bedsheet in a cool place or lightly sprinkle water on it and let it dry slightly. This gives a refreshing cooling effect when you lie down.

Make sure your bedding is clean and dry. Sweat and dirt can make your bed feel sticky and uncomfortable, so washing your bedsheets regularly helps maintain freshness and better sleep.

Also, try to keep some space around you while sleeping. Overcrowded sleeping areas increase body heat and reduce airflow, making it harder to stay cool.

By using light and breathable bedding, your body stays relaxed, sweat is reduced, and you can enjoy a peaceful and comfortable sleep even in hot summer nights.
