Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated during hot summer nights is very important to keep your body cool, calm, and comfortable. When the temperature is high, your body loses water through sweat, even while you are resting or sleeping. If you don’t drink enough fluids, you may feel restless, tired, or even get headaches and dizziness.

Start by drinking enough water throughout the evening. Don’t wait until you feel very thirsty—keep sipping small amounts of water regularly. This helps maintain your body temperature and keeps your mind relaxed.

Before going to bed, drink 1 glass of normal or slightly cool water, but avoid drinking too much at once, as it may disturb your sleep with frequent bathroom visits.

You can also include natural cooling drinks in your routine. Drinks like lemon water (nimbu pani), coconut water, buttermilk (chaach), or light homemade drinks help refresh your body and replace lost minerals. These are much better than cold soft drinks.

Try to avoid caffeine and sugary drinks at night. Tea, coffee, and sodas can dehydrate your body and increase body heat, making it harder to sleep peacefully.

Eating water-rich foods in the evening is also helpful. Fruits like watermelon, cucumber, oranges, and muskmelon contain a high amount of water and help keep your body cool from inside.

Keep a water bottle near your bed, so if you feel thirsty at night, you can easily drink without getting up. This small habit helps maintain comfort and prevents dehydration.

If you sweat a lot, you can add a pinch of salt and sugar in water (ORS-style drink) occasionally to maintain electrolyte balance, especially in very hot weather.

By staying properly hydrated, your body remains cool, your mind stays calm, and your sleep becomes more peaceful and comfortable.
