Eating a light dinner during hot summer nights is very important to keep your body cool, calm, and comfortable. Heavy, oily, or spicy food increases body heat and makes digestion slower, which can cause discomfort, sweating, and disturbed sleep.
Try to have your dinner early in the evening, at least 2–3 hours before going to bed. This gives your body enough time to digest the food properly and reduces the chances of feeling heavy or uneasy at night.
Choose simple and easy-to-digest foods like roti, rice, dal, khichdi, or light vegetables. These foods provide energy without putting extra pressure on your stomach.
Include cooling and hydrating foods in your dinner. Items like curd (dahi), buttermilk (chaach), cucumber, and salads help lower body temperature and keep you refreshed from inside.
Avoid spicy, fried, and oily foods at night. These foods can increase acidity, body heat, and sweating, making it difficult to sleep peacefully.
Try to limit very heavy proteins or rich meals at night, as they take longer to digest and may cause restlessness.
You can also eat seasonal fruits like watermelon, papaya, or muskmelon in the evening (but not immediately after a heavy meal). They help in hydration and provide a cooling effect.
Keep your portion small and balanced. Overeating can make you feel bloated and uncomfortable, especially in hot weather.
By eating a light and healthy dinner, your body stays cool, digestion remains smooth, and your sleep becomes more peaceful and refreshing.
